Fatrin Krajka is an Albanian-born award-winning composer and performer based in NYC. Fatrin Krajka is an Albanian-born, award-winning composer, pianist, and multidisciplinary artist based in New York City. Known for merging classical lineage with contemporary minimalism, his music traverses film, ballet, chamber music, and immersive art installations. His work is celebrated for its emotional clarity and its ability to create spaces of profound intimacy, introspection, and stillness.

In recent years, Krajka has emerged as a leading voice in interdisciplinary composition. His 2023 album, The Space In Between (Tikkun Records), marked a defining moment in his artistic evolution. That same year he became the first composer ever invited to present a full musical work at Vienna Art Week with his sound installation Khronos (19th Edition). In 2024, he was invited back to Vienna to contribute original music to Aldo Giannotti’s large-scale installation House of Constructs at Kuntsforum Wien.

His work in contemporary dance has expanded rapidly. In 2024, Xie Xin Dance Theatre commissioned him to compose Negotiating Peace, created in collaboration with choreographer Brigel Gjoka and premiered in Shenzhen, China. His upcoming ballet commissions include Nobody Knows (2025) for Theater Ballett Hagen in Germany and Muzg (2026), commissioned by Van Cleef & Arpels’ Dance Reflections Festival to premiere in Shanghai. His composition Core was also featured at Juilliard Dance in 2025.

Krajka’s concert works have been performed internationally, with recent highlights including the premiere of his Anima String Quartet (2025) by the RSO String Quartet at the Aldridge Contemporary Art Museum. His catalog includes three string quartets, chamber operas, and orchestral works such as Zoltavia, 25–57, and numerous ensemble scores.

As a film composer, Krajka has scored over two dozen films across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. His music for Nocturne in Black earned the BAFTA LA Award, the Gold Medal at the Student Academy Awards, and an Oscars shortlist distinction. He later received “Best Score in a Feature” at the Southampton Film Festival for Anatomy of the Tide. His recent credits include the Tribeca-premiering short Black Amber (2024), the feature Winter Fireflies (2022), and numerous award-winning shorts. Since 2017, he has served annually on the Brooklyn Film Festival jury for Experimental and Animation films.

As a pianist, Krajka has performed widely in Europe and the United States. He made his New York debut at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall as winner of the Artists International Special Presentation Award, followed by his Merkin Halldebut and international recital tours.

Krajka was raised in a renowned musical family—his father, a celebrated Albanian composer, was his first teacher in composition and orchestration, and his mother was a violist with the Albanian National Orchestra. After emigrating to New York following the fall of communism, he attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts before earning his degree in Piano Performance at the Manhattan School of Music.

Today, Fatrin’s work continues to expand across disciplines, connecting contemporary sound with visual art, movement, and cinematic storytelling. His upcoming performances include engagements at Joe’s Pub (2025) and 54 Below (2026)for his project The Space In Between.
