But For What’s My Axis: EMPIRE

But For What’s My Axis is a multidisciplinary performative work made in collaboration between visual artist Kara Rooney, composer Fatrin Krajka, and Brooklyn-based poets Betsy Fagin, Laura Henriksen, and Marine Cornuet. This project takes the institutionalization of language as its starting point. Through the development of three performances—Empire, Desire, and Origins (Blue)—in addition to recorded and printed ephemera, the overarching aim of the work is to grapple with, decenter, and disassemble a largely invisible social spectre that continues to infiltrate as well as amplify our historical, relational, and sociopolitical entanglements.

Part 1 “Origins” was performed in at Totah Gallery (NY)  in 2017 and Part 2 ”Desire“was performed at Fridman Gallery (NY) as part of the 2018 New Ear Festival.
